Due to the ever increasing interest in the Camp Oven Mate I have updated my website page to show how to set one up and use it.  Eight photos in total make for an easy read.

Check it out at http://www.aussiecampovencook.com/campovenswithgas.htm and let me know what you think.

Looks pretty cool, Derek.  Are those being sold in the States?  Bringing any with you when you visit?

Hi Rusty

Nope, not bringing any over and no they are not available in the States.  Bill Thompson from Southern Metal Spinners here makes them and I am sure that if you contacted him he could send one over.  Freight may be a problem though.

When using the Camp Oven Mate with charcoal, does it cook faster?
The Volcano I and II, sold in the USA says it cooks faster and with less coals. Is this true with the Camp Oven Mate?
Real interested in making one of these so I can cook in the winter, cold up here in Alaska and lose the heat quickly.

Hi Ron and welcome to the forum.

My experience is that it doesn't necessary cook quicker but very good when there is bad weather such as rain and wind as it protects your charcoal.

I have imported the large sized COM from Oz.

I checked via 5 forums in N. America and there is no comparable product over here, or wasn't at that time.

Look here:  http://www.southern-metal-spinners.com.au/camping-page.html

I thought the cost was quite reasonable.  I go boondocking in areas which we call 'crown land' in Canada, but which usually have fire bans in summer here.  Plus, I live in areas with lots of wind.  I continue to think it was worthwhile.

Undecided
