Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  I'm from Victoria but hoping to see a good deal of the rest of Australia.
I have had a look at a few ovens already but wouldn't know what to buy. Any advice for a novice? Does price matter?
None of the ovens that I have looked at have carried any warnings of their addictive properties but I wont be able to say I wasn't warned.   I certainly can feel the enthusiasm for the ovens coming through in these posts.

Hey Peter

If I was to buy my first TWO ovens I would get 2 X 12" ovens Maybe even a 15", Cheap chinese ones will work fine for ya ($30-45ea). I now have collected about 5 x 10" ovens and can hardly find a use for em, Maybe gravy, custard that sort of thing.
With ya 12" ovens ya can throw a leg of pork in one and veges in the other sit back have a stubbie no worries, I find I like plenty of room around my veges so they don't get all mushed up tring to turn em' . Also try and get one with a bit of depth about it so ya pork don't burn on the lid.
Then you'll probably need another one for ya bread. By now the disorder has probably kicked in and there will be no end in sight Smiley

Keep it fun

JMHO

Cheers

Jono

PS price don't matter yet, It will though when ya find a original Furphy

Pete

You have a couple of good camp oven festivals in Victoria that would be well worth a visit later in the year.

Thanks for that Jono. I hadn't thought of the need for two.  I am glad you have pointed out the larger oven - 12" is the way to go.  I was looking at a 10".
I assume the measurement is the diameter.

Cheers
