Greetings everyone. What a wonderful forum this is. Well designed and orchestrated!

As you may have already guessed, I'm a bit of a camping and caravanning nut. Camp tucker and cooking over an open fire is something that I can never get enough of. I'm looking forward to learning heaps from this forum and participating as time permits.

My wife and I recently returned from a 2 week camping trip to Lake Eyre and had a fantastic time. It's nice to get away in the winter months when there are no fire restrictions in place. Had no problems in locating fire wood at most camping spots in SA.

Thanks for the welcoming Stump Jump.

I've got a few photos from Lake Eyre to share if you like but none of a campfire as this was the only place where one couldn't find wood. It's all saltbush and sand.

I do have photos of our campfires at Arkaroola and Wilpena Pound but the wife won't let me share any of photos taken with her in them (where you can see her face). She's a bit thingy about that. Looks like I'll be doing a "double take" in the future.

I've got plenty of other photos featuring my Delica 4wd which is an amazing vehicle.....if people wish to see them

Hey Derek, it's probably best that I start a new topic for the Delica in the 4wd section which I'll commence later on in the week....there's a lot to show and tell

A few people requested some more snaps from our recent outback trip...so here goes. (I've got heaps of stills and videos but it would take a month of Sundays to get them all up.)

Commencing from the Flinders Ranges -

Wilpena Pound waterhole

Wilpena Aboriginal Monument/Sculpture - heaps of these around all in different colours:

Approaching dust storm near Arkaroola -

Heading for the Gammon Ranges National Park -

Checkout the bark on that tree!

On to the Oodnadatta Track which runs alongside the old Ghan railway line -

The sign says it all:

Artwork...or just two bloody planes planted in the ground -

Interesting what one can do with old railway water tanks - woof!

Sleeper language...ha ha -

Sleeper Amenities Block at Goward Springs -

Cheeky buggers!

Folks....if you ever get a chance to travel up the Oodnadatta Track make sure you arrange to Camp the night at Goward Springs (ring beforehand to reserve a spot...just in case). This is a fabulous outback oasis teaming with wildlife. Also, so much history to soak up here. Wood for your campfire is available..yep, it's old railway sleepers...and it's starting to run out.

Fancy a camel trek?

A reminder to inexperienced travellers (overseas one's in particular) who are stupid enough to travel the outback in summer ...and get bogged in sand only because their vehicle wasn't engaged in 4wd...and never figured it out!

Across to Coober Pedy (after Lake Eyre) for a couple of days to checkout the amazing underground homes,churches and motels. You really need a few days to look around. Above ground though....it's not real pretty. Been there done that.

Next stop we travel south to Melrose (full day's drive). What a magic place. Fantastic campground there....could have stayed a week. Checked out the beautiful old historic buildings -

What the?

Time to hit the Clare Valley wineries -

Stopped overnight at Gawler and drove home to Melbourne the next day.

Last...but not least are the big boys' toys -

That's an OKA folks....I'll keep dreamin'.
