Vegetable Pasties
6 sheets shortcrust pastry
1 pkt mixed frozen vegetables, chopped finely
grated tasty cheese
seasonings
freshly ground black pepper
Egg wash
Thaw pastry sheets & layer 2 sheets together. Use a bread & butter plate as a template, cut out circles. Steam vegetables & mix with grated cheese & seasonings, black pepper. Spoon vegetable mix on to centre of each pastry circle. Brush edges of pastry with egg wash & bring pastry up to cover contents & pinch edges together. Brush egg wash over pasties & place on baking dish. Cook at 180-190C for about 20mins, but watch carefully as pastry could burn.
Note: I found single sheets of pastry are just too thin to hold contents & hold pastie shape.

They look quick and easy to make, I might try to make them when my family come home for Christmas.

I have eaten Cornish Pasties in Cornwall, the key seems to be the black pepper, need a good dose in a Cornish Pastie.
