Wanting to find out the cost of one Heat Bead, so can work out total costs of cooking.
Will weigh 1 kg and count them then calculate from the cost of a 10 kg bag from Big W which is the cheapest retailer I can find.
Will report back later.

kd, another thing about heat beads i would like to know is,

is there anyway that you can extinguish them when you have finished cooking and there is still a fair bit of head bead left that you could use later for say a cake/scones etc

i have tried putting them in water (no good)

i once thought of putting them in a glass jar and screwing a top on to cut out the oxygen, but didnt think that would work.  (maybe melt the plastic top)

cheers - jack

In a Weber Kettle, simply close the top and bottom vents to extinguish and reuse.

Next time I see you I'll give you a 10 kilo bag or two then you won't have to worry.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Jack, have never done it myself but have seen it twice now and both guys had large tins with lids on them.  I think they were the old Sunshine Milk tins.  Pop the Heat Beads in and put the lid on and they go out very quickly.

Like I said, never done it but have seen it work.

Only issue with this though is that you end up with a rather small Heat Bead next time and I would find that a little difficult in determining how many to use for the right temperature

The other thing with a Weber Kettle is to plan for cooking a pudding after you take off the main roast, wack on a rice pud/bread n butter pudding - works well. The fire will be going for 90 minutes after you take off the roast.

I just use an old saucepan with a lid, they are good of cooking when it isn’t important to cook on time and temperature, like a stew, corned beef, ect.

I think the day I need to count the cost of the heat beads I'm using, I'll only be able to afford to eat tinned dog food on special occasions so it really won't matter. Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy
