Ok, Rastas, all, it is now after 12:30 a.m. in the Atlantic Standard Time zone of Canada.  I have now officially achieved 67 years and entered my 68th year of living.

Carolyn, yes, we know snow is coming up the Eastern Seaboard.  But when it gets up here, they say it will me mostly rain.  I can't really say why, but that's what Environment Canada tells us will happen.

There's the time zone map of Canada (It's too wide for the forum):
http://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/obj/inms-ienm/images/time_services_images/TZ06SWE.jpg

As you can see, if you add Alaska, there are actually 7  time zones to N. America.

Happy New Year again!!!!

Smiley

& the carrot cake is made (house oven), but the frosting remains to be done.  The sun should be up in another 7 hours.  Temps up to -3.  It should be nice for playing with Kopit  outside.  Only tie shoes, no snow boots needed.

http://www.lib.uwo.ca/programs/companyinformationcanada/ccc-findlays.htm  There's a brief history of the Findlay Foundry from University of Western Ontario, thus, reliable.

As it says, the Findlays are still in business, still in Onario, but electric stoves.

I have a # of Findlay frying pans and 2 #9 (10.5") cast iron pots.  They are not the same.  One is from the era when almost all cast iron had sides, etc. made quite smooth.  The other is a bit later.  They are two of my fav. stove top pots, for baked beans, chili, etc.

Right now, I think the largest of the Canadian ci foundries was McClary, which had foundries in Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba.  The later is considered a historic building.  My sample McClary is a really nice oval roaster.  I think I've posted a pic of that here.

What size is your frying pan?

I have a sneaking feeling that somebody imported some at one time or another.  Let's just say I've received a message that another Aussie has one.

Do you know that the #s on the fry pans or 'bean pots' refer to the position of the hooks around the stove?  One was supposed to be able to store the 'utensils' on  the cast iron stove.   #3 is going to be a 6" * or an 8" (not looking and checking mine).  #8 is my fav. size for much, the 10".  I don't have a complete set of Findlay frying pans, but quite a few.

* nice for 2 eggs solo.

Cool

Hi LK, all the best for the first of January, thank you for sharing the Canada time zones map, I have a sister who is living in Welland. It gives me some idea what the time is over there now. Smiley
