Most Aussies probably couldn't fit a whole turkey in our standard size oven!   Undecided

I think the frozen turkey portions (breasts ?) in the supermarkets are increasing in popularity... they are about the same size as a large chook.

Not sure if they are 'stuffable' - though one could possibly do them as a 'rolled' roast perhaps   Smiley

ps... I can't stand vegemite either   Wink

The judge's decision is final... unless the 3rd umpire is called for... or a facebook campaign goes viral !!!

Greetings LG,

Years ago my Mother paid a guy to raise a turkey for her for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Well the one she ended up with was rejected by all of his other costomers due to its size, 52 lbs (23.58 kilograms). Mother had to remove all but the lowest rack in the oven and make tin foil sides for her largest roasting pan as it hung over the sides. We only had half of the turkey for that feast and saved the rest for the following Christmas.

I always cook turkey without any stuffing inside.

I don't think that I have had vegemite, I understand that it has a strong flavor.

Best,
Duncan

Bloomin Eck Duncan!  You could have turkey once a week for the entire year !
Your mum sounds like a very resourceful lady - I tip my hat to her  Smiley

Let us say Vegemite is an acquired taste...  Along with Marmite and Bovril
Most people have a smear on toast, but I have seen some people plaster it on quarter inch thick!  shudders   Cheesy

My Mother (and Father) grew up during the depression and learned well to make due with what you have. I have learned well from her that anything can be done with what you have on hand.

I have seen them on the shelf at the grocer and might pick up some to taste sometime. Smiley

Speaking of cooking fowl .... will you be entering our little challenge this weekend Duncan?
Cook something in your camp oven that involves chicken and if a poll deems you the winner you get to boast
"My Camp Oven Rules!" ... at least until the next challenge   Grin Grin Grin
