Ahhhhhh.  This is a bit like the Holden v Ford discussion.  Seen this get quite heated on forums/Facebook at times but I dont think there is a right or wrong answer.

I have the Weber and can cook anything I want on it.  Others will say the same about the Ziggy.  I have bought genuine Weber products to go with it that I use all the time.  The half solid plate, convection trays, trivet, frying pan and lidded casserole dish.  Also have an assortment of loaf pans, trays and pie dishes for it.

I dont know the answer as to what is the better of the two but happy with the Weber.

One thing that does look good on the Ziggy as opposed to the Weber to me is the way the lid folds right over and down the side out of the way.

Dave, I thought Rick had a Jumbuck??

As Dave said, if you get the Weber though get the high domed one with the thermometer.  Only about $20 difference in price but you will need to go to a Weber Specialist Shop

Some of Ricks Jumbuck cooking - http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1419767745

Some of my Weber cooking - http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1454838691

Regardless, any outdoor cooking is fun.  ;D

Been looking at the ziggy site on Facebook  a lot of users are not happy with the single  burner size stating they  don't get hot enough  only getting to 160 no matter what they do
So  question to the the members here that have one how does the Q stack up in the heat department

Seeing as you are comparing Weber to Z & B have you thought about any other alternatives?
Some while back in a similar quandary I finally selected the Everdure Neo Buddy which has a slightly lager cooking area, a higher lid with thermometer and plenty of heat regulation. The only addition I made was a cast iron cook plate as an alternative to the grill.
Very happy with it. Smiley
Regarding burners which do not seem to be generating sufficient heat, it can be the gas regulator. Most can be adjusted from what may have been a too low a pressure setting when manufactured.

I had the Everdure Neo Buddy myself two caravans back and found it to be excellent to cook on.  Why I got rid of it was due to it’s overall size.  Was too big for us to cart around.  Gave it to my son in law and they now use it for their home barbecue.

Here are some modifications I did to it to make it more versatile - http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1363064884/

As far as heat on the Weber mine will get up to 240 degrees if I leave it with nothing in it.  I regularly do pastry at around 200 to 220 and most of my other baking and roasting at 180.

One thing that is difficult to do in the Weber is keep a very low temperature of say 120 degrees, particularly if you want to slow cook a brisket for many hours.  To do that you need to prop the lid open a bit.  Kitchen tongs seem to be about the right size.

Just on the heat of the Ziggy, I think if people are only getting that low temp then there is definitely something is wrong.  I think Michael has hit the nail on the head with the regulator.  I don’t know enough to be able to comment on gas.  It is always something I have shied away from mucking with.

I have camped near people with Ziggys and have seen some very nice meals come out of them.  Particularly roast dinners so they can and should get up to temperature.

I have the Baby-Q with all the accessories, just love it. Cooks the perfect roast pork with great crackling every time. Had a pizza night recently and turned out 10 pizzas to feed the gathering on the little Q. Did it with ease. Wink

I'm with you Huey. Baby Q all the way. l am still learning how to use it properly, but love the speed at which it cooks with the lid closed. l wish l had the option of using a full flat plate though, unfortunately.

Its not burnt. Just really well done.

I have never seen a need for the full plate cooking for just Maggie and myself however if you want one CAMPAQUIP make a full cast iron plate for the Weber Q.  Not cheap though.

Thanks for the link Derek. I have spoken to this company regarding a full plate and they were out of stock when l rang. They were getting more in within a month or so but during that time, l spoke with a webber salesman who informed me that webber don't make one themselves because they could "trap" too much heat and actually warp the bbq itself.  The salesman also said using one and warping it voided any warranty and was easily detected. Hence my fear of getting one.

That has been an argument from Weber for a long time yet there are thousands of the full plates out there.

Have you had a look at the Facebook Group - Weber BBQ Addicts Page.

If so ask the question about them on there.  A lot of them have been using them for quite a few years.

We got a plate from Also...had to bend the handles up a bit to let the lid close...plus we bought a stack of alfoil trays from a $2 shop which we used to cook chicken in and other veggies...just as good as Weber brand and very cheap
