A little bit off topic but has anyone here ever got themselves involved with cheese making.

Thinking it may be something to add to my hobbies.  Nothing like a hobby that produces edible results.   Smiley

Kev, my research is showing that is the hardest thing to get, is fresh milk.

Shop bought unhomogenised is the way to go apparently.

Then again I may find someone out here in the Lockyer who has a spare gallon or two.   Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

A mate of mine who now lives in Tassie was involved in cheese making.
Mostly Havarti and Brie.
He got whole milk direct from the farm.
Apparently it's not legal.

We’re very fortunate to have a local cheese factory that makes, in our opinion, very nice matured cheese. Only a short trip & very nice coffee to boot. Expensive perhaps but we like it, so wouldn’t consider making our own. When I had a business in SA & was selling milk the driver told me there was a club in Moonta making cheese and butter from Fleurieu Milk. Same story unhomogenised

Maggie wanted extra room for her crafting so we are extending airconditioning and insulation into the garage.

I have told her one section is going to have a fridge in it for my cheese making and possible playing with cured meats and salami.   Roll Eyes
