This started with my plan to make an Ugly Drum Smoker (UDS) HERE.  The UDS is still in the pipeline.

With the UDS I am planning I intended to use the lid off a Weber Kettle as well as the round grill as it fits nicely inside the 44 gallon drum.

Put an advertisement on Facebook Market to see if anyone had an old Weber and I got the offer on one for $50.  When I picked it up, it was complete and I could see that it was in pretty good nick.

This weekend I got the gurney on to it and did a lot of scrubbing and it came up like new.  It is a 1995 model so 30 years old.  Even the old wood handles scrubbed up well as did the wheels.  I hit the round grill with a cleaner and steel wool and a lot of the chrome is now shining.

So now I have a perfectly good Weber Kettle and will still use parts of it for the smoker, so a two in one.

It’s funny how life can circle you.  Had two of them that I sold when we were “downsizing” to move out here.

Now here I am with another one.   Grin Grin Grin Grin

I made a big mistake today that I guess in the end turned out ok.

I have an account on Amazon and buy the odd thing here and there.

Today I was looking at a stainless steel grill plate that will go in the Weber.

I was trying to see if I could buy it using the PayPal pay by instalment plan.  I also use this often as you can pay in four instalments over about two months.  Makes it easier for budgeting.

Anyway I put it in my shopping basket and pushed the button to take me to the next stage which would normally be freight and voila, I had bought it.   Grin Grin Grin

Surprisingly with free postage as well as a discount.   Grin Grin Grin

So, shortly my Weber is going to have a new stainless grill plate and that will now give me the two grills I want in the UDS.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Not only that, I found out that Amazon do not have PayPal.   Angry

Boxing Day roast is on in the Weber.  It is amazing how much heat these things push out.

Photo taken an hour ago.

It is a nicely shaped pork boned leg roast.

I used our mini rotisserie that was used at a COG.
Cooked inside the shed as rain was likely.
Pickled pork, was ever so moist.
Used hotshots, worked a treat.

Good stuff Aart.

Didn’t get a finished photo as got quite busy.  Had the pork with duck fat roasted spuds, roasted pumpkin, honey carrots, steamed broccoli, peas, gravy and apple sauce.

Finished off with a big bowl of traditional trifle.

There were nine for lunch.
