Could someone explain to me the purpose of this cooking device and why it is so expensive?

I cant make any sense of it from the description given:

Have seen these before.  They are fantastic in my view.  Big buggers though.

When you are unable to have a fire on the ground you can light your fire in it and sit around to keep warm.  As the fire dies down you can cook on the coals in it.

Did you check the size.  It stands near 6 feet tall and the pan is 2 feet wide.

Why is it so expensive??  Because they can I guess.  Grin Grin Grin Grin  Do a Google search and you can find them in Australia at different prices

Here is a pic of cooking in it.  There's a lot of snags, steaks and chops there.

...

This one shows how big it is compared to the cook.  Check out the chains hanging down off one tripod leg for hanging a billy or camp oven on.

...

Yes David, you need one.  Cheesy

Good when you can light fires for those with back problems and dont have the camp oven metal tables (not the right name).  The occasional place you can have a fire if its off the ground and this would have to qualify for that restriction. Thats not a big area to cook for a family but about overkill for us twosomes.  Cheesy

Eeeeeeek I just looked at the price.  I am sure my table wasnt near that much even with postage from USA.
