At a local market I picked up a copy of "The Complete Australian Barbeque Kettle Cookbook".

Gawd what a trip!

The imprint page lack a publishing date but I suspect mid-eighties or earlier.

The recipes are very much of the era! As are the preamble instructions.

I gather that Weber's were the latest thing at the time and the authors were early Weber dealers and this was written to educate the Australian market what a kettle BBQ was.

It is hilarious!

I got one as a package when I bought my first Weber Kettle.  Would have been back in the 70’s.

It was this book and the principle of cooking in the kettle that actually got me using Heat Beads with camp ovens and working with Heat Beads to produce the Heat Bead Chart now on my website.

Some good recipes in that one.  Still occasionally pull mine out.

Had a good look through the book today, plenty of recipes I’d like to try. We’ve been buying our meat at farm gate, down near Capel about 60 - 70 k south of us. About to order 1/4 beef, 1/2 lamb & 1/4 pork. The pork has a fair bit of fat but is as good as we’ve ever had. All free range nearly got one of their pigs going in the gate a while back.
